Navi Mumbai (6 September 2025) - A 29-year-old woman from Navi Mumbai has been arrested for allegedly stealing gold jewelry and cash worth Rs 24.42 lakh from her sisters house in Mumbra. The police managed to solve the case and apprehend the accused within eight hours of the crime being reported.

According to a senior official from the Mumbra police station, the theft occurred on August 31 while the complainant was away visiting her mother. The perpetrator gained entry to the locked flat using a duplicate key, a fact that immediately raised suspicion among investigators as there was no sign of forced entry.

Police quickly launched a probe, utilizing technical evidence, mobile phone analysis, and CCTV footage from the area. The evidence led them to the accused, who is the victims own sister.

Upon initial interrogation, the suspect attempted to mislead the police team but later confessed to the crime. Police have praised the swift action of the investigating team and the effective use of technology in solving a case that involved a betrayal of trust within a family.

Further investigation is underway to recover the stolen valuables.
