Gwalior, Bhopal (5 Dec. 2025) - In a significant verdict related to the sprawling Vyapam scam, the Special CBI Court (Vyapam Cases) in Gwalior has convicted and sentenced two accused to seven years of rigorous imprisonment (RI)

The conviction is in connection with a case of impersonation that occurred during the Police Constable Recruitment Examination, 2012.

Convicts and Penalties-
The two convicted persons were identified as:
1. Ranveer Singh
2. Harvendra Singh Chouhan alias Parvendra Kumar

In addition to the seven-year RI sentence, the court also imposed a fine of ₹11,000 each on the convicts.

Details of the Case-
The case, originally registered in Morena in September 2012 following a complaint by the Centre Superintendent, alleged the use of an impersonator to write the exam.

  • CBI Takeover: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) took over the investigation in August 2015 following directions from the Supreme Court of India.

  • Offences: The accused were charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) related to criminal conspiracy, cheating, and forgery, as well as the Madhya Pradesh Recognised Examination Act, 1937.

  • Prosecution Success: Through its sustained and meticulous probe, the CBI established that the accused had conspired to manipulate the recruitment process by deploying "solvers" or impersonators, thereby undermining the integrity and fairness of the selection for Police Constables.

  • This judgment marks another important step in the CBIs ongoing mission to bring all offenders involved in the massive recruitment scam to justice and reaffirm the rule of law in public examination systems.
